Summary

An occasional publication for the then Sport and Exercise Psychology Section.

Sport and exercise psychologists are becoming increasingly interested in the theory and practice of counselling but many counselling issues remain poorly understood and are frequently overlooked by professionals responsible for the well-being of participants in sport and exercise activities.

The workshop on which the papers in this issue are based brought together a group of experienced sport and exercise psychologists who work in areas either directly related to, or strongly interface with, counselling psychology. The primary objective was to provide theoretical, practical, and ethical guidelines for counselling individuals in sport and exercise contexts.
