The British Psychological Society
is the representative body for psychology and psychologists in the UK. We are a registered charity in the England and Wales (Charity Registration Number: 229642) and in Scotland (Registration Number: SC039452).
The Society was formed in 1901 and has more than 47,000 members. Through our Royal Charter, we are charged with overseeing psychology and psychologists, and have responsibility for the development, promotion and application of pure and applied psychology for the public good.
We always try to be helpful and treat both members and customers with respect. Wherever possible we try to answer all calls within three rings and reply to enquiries by email within two working days.
The Society offers a range of products and services such to help further our three main aims, which are:
- to encourage the development of psychology as a scientific discipline and as an applied profession;
- to maintain and enhance standards of education, training and practice in the application of psychology; and
- to raise public awareness of psychology and increase the influence of psychological practice in society, industry and the economy.
